Pauline Ferrand-Prévot is the strongest driver of this Tour de France Femmes. After the queen stage the day before, the French woman won this year’s tour as an outlier. It is the first overall victory of a French woman since the introduction of the Tour de France Femmes 2022, to which the French have been looking forward to. The later winner of the tour was obviously the absolute favorite of this tour among fans, according to the calls on the roadside and the poster statements.

The last kilometers to victory

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot attacked 6.5 kilometers before the destination in the favorite group around Demi full ring and Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney on the last mountain. The competitors could not go on their pace. After a few meters, the French woman secured a secure distance – and thus won the ninth and last stage of this Tour de France Femmes and at the same time the overall classification.

Demi full ring came 20 seconds, Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney finished 23 seconds behind Ferrand-Prévot. This gave way to full and fourth place on the podium places in second and fourth place.

Ferrand-Prévot is actually no longer a road racing driver

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot was actually no longer a road racing driver, but focused on mountain bike races. But her big dream was to win the Tour de France Femmes. Therefore, the twelve -time world champion came back onto the street. Her goal of winning the tour in the next three years has already reached it and was by far the strongest driver of this issue.

Favorite group after 30 kilometers

Immediately after the race was released, there were attacks, including from the best sprinter Lorena Wiebes, who won the green jersey on this tour. For the first few kilometers, the peloton dissolved into different smaller groups during the first departure, but after 26 kilometers, however, all groups and outliers came together again.

30 kilometers after the start of the race, the peloton dragged on strongly. At the forefront in the group were all favorites for the yellow jersey: Demi full ring, Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, Sarah Gigante, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, Cédrine Kerbaol, Anna van der Breggen, but also the German driver Liane Lippert. Ricarda Bauernfeind from the team Canyon-Sram Zondarcrypto concluded to the group to support her team captain Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney.

Founding moment 70 kilometers before finish

At the foot of the most demanding mountain of this day, the Col de Joux tarpaulin, two drivers from EF Education-Oatly, including Cédrine Kerbaol. Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney was also involved in the fall. Despite injuries on the knee and elbow, Niewiadoma-Phinney immediately got back on the bike, Ricarda Bauernfeind led her back to her old position in the favorite group in a few minutes.

Cédrine Kerbaol no longer came to the group. The fall that fifth in the overall classification had cost its place in the top 5. Three kilometers before the favorite finished, Kerbaol had a gap of almost eight minutes. The French woman slipped to eighth place in the overall classification.

Giant big weakness costs her the podium

The runner -up from the previous day, Sarah Gigante, showed at Col de la Madeleine how strongly she can climb up the mountains. But even during the entire issue of this Tour de France Femmes it was noticed that the Australian was not a good downhill.

Her concure women also noticed this. At the mountain ranking for the Col de Joux tarpaulin – a mountain in the HC category – the favorites from their group positioned themselves so that they could hang gigante on the departure as far as possible.

On the departure, the 24-year-old conceded a lot of deficit after just a few meters and finally completely lost the connection. She fell behind the favorites over 1.5 kilometers. Gigante had no helpers at her side, the next group in the race was also over two minutes. Sarah Gigante, who took second place in the overall classification after the 8th stage, was on his own.

The Australian from the Insurance Soudal team AG finished almost four minutes to Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and landed in sixth in the overall classification.

Anna van der Breggen was considered the overall victory of the Tour de France Femmes until the eighth stage. In the end, she no longer made it into the top 10 of the overall classification. The 35 -year -old was suspended on the Col de la Madeleine the day before – and thus collected a gap of over nine minutes to the yellow jersey.

On the last day of this Tour de France Femmes, the Dutchman obviously wanted to try to make up for something. From kilometers of four, van der Breggen attacked in the race, initially she drove with two colleagues from her team SD-WORX-Protime in a top group. The group was caught up after the first departure, but Anna van der Breggen attacked again at kilometers 30.

After 41 kilometers, the group led them briefly. When Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney was involved in the fall about 15 kilometers later, peasant enemy was immediately on hand.
