In case of defeat at Leicester
The season ended prematurely for Rodrigo Bentancur. The 25-year-old tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, his club Tottenham Hotspur announced on Monday. Bentancur will have to undergo an operation, it is said.
The Uruguayan international was substituted on Saturday in the 65th minute of the 4-1 draw at Leicester City due to injury, before that he had scored the interim opening goal (14th) for “Spurs” and his sixth goal of the season. For Bentancur it was the 26th game in all competitions this season, a total of 2,127 minutes are recorded, which is only surpassed by four field players within the team. With a market value of 40 million euros, however, he is one of the most valuable professionals in the squad, in midfield only Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg is valued higher.
We can confirm that Rodrigo Bentancur has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out of action for the remainder of the campaign.
He will undergo surgery before beginning his rehabilitation with our medical staff.
