Tottenham Hotspur has now moved past Manchester City into the top four in the Premier League table with a win against Everton FC. Richarlison and Heung-Min Son scored the goals for the Londoners, André Gomes gave the “Toffees” some hope again with his goal eight minutes before the end of the game, but ultimately in vain.
As a result of the defeat, Everton initially remains in mid-table in 10th place, four points ahead of Chelsea FC, who have to go to Wolverhampton on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, Newcastle United suffered a bitter 0-1 defeat at newly promoted Luton Town. Andros Townsend gave the “Hatters”, who remain one game less ahead of Burnley (2-0 win against Fulham) in the table, new hope in the relegation battle.
The loser in the bottom of the table on Saturday afternoon was Nottingham Forest. The “Tricky Trees” took an early lead against Bournemouth through Anthony Elanga, but a double strike from Dominic Solanke brought the “Cherries” back. The brilliant striker continued to improve after Chris Wood’s equalizer and made the final score 3-2 with his third goal in the 94th minute.
