Frustration over lack of playing time

Former Bayern professional Mathys Tel could temporarily leave Tottenham Hotspur in the winter. According to a report in the Guardian newspaper, the 20-year-old has informed the Londoners that he would be open to a loan if there is a suitable offer. The reason is frustration with his playing times under coach Thomas Frank. Three clubs are already in position for a possible deal.

The Frenchman has made 14 league appearances and three goals for Spurs this season. However, he was only in the starting line-up five times. Although Coach Frank recently let his protégé start twice in a row, the attacker is apparently toying with a change of air. Tel had initially moved to the Thames from Munich on loan in the second half of last season and was then signed permanently for 35 million euros with a purchase option. The first setback was the fact that he was not included in the Champions League squad in September, for which the right-footer was nominated at the beginning of December due to the injury of his strike colleague Dominic Solanke. Tel’s market value fell by 10 million euros in the last six months.

The youngster’s contract runs until 2031. He has no intention of leaving Tottenham, writes the Guardian. Rather, he wants to give his career a new boost, also with a view to the upcoming World Cup and his chances of being named to the squad. Tel’s departure from Munich last year was based on the desire to have more and more regular working hours at the top level. On Sunday, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano reported that Paris FC was interested. The French presented their concerns to Tottenham.

There is also said to be concrete interest from Istanbul, where both Fenerbahce and Galatasaray Tel are said to want to win over. According to other media reports, Galatasaray even promised a deal lasting one and a half years including improved salary options. According to reports, there have been further signals from Spanish and Italian clubs in recent days.
