The top couple of sports are sizzling in Italy.
Argentinian basketball player Luca Vildoza30, and a Serbian volleyball player Milica Vildozaa25, is accused of assault, tells Italian magazine Il Resto Del Carlino.
According to the newspaper, the couple had provoked the emergency personnel, prevented them from doing their work and attacked them.
The ambulance had stopped to record the address of the emergency location when the couple arrived. They are said to have flashed their headlights and insulted the ambulance driver.
Later, the sports couple and the same ambulance met again in traffic. However, the ambulance, with its warning lights and sirens on, was not allowed to drive in peace, when Vildoza slowed it down so that the emergency vehicle had to stop.
The nurses got out of the car to ask why Vildoza was behaving so aggressively. After this, the basketball player representing the top club Virtus Bologna is said to have taken the 54-year-old female nurse in a stranglehold. This volleyball player’s spouse also participated in the situation by pulling the nurse’s hair.
According to the newspaper, the conflict ended when a nearby police patrol noticed the situation. More police officers and sports club staff also arrived at the scene.
The sports couple had to answer for their actions in court, but the prosecutor decided to release them.
This has aroused strong disapproval in Italy.
– It is in no way acceptable that such incidents take place. It is unacceptable that our healthcare professionals have to face verbal and physical violence. We strongly condemn what happened and we will thoroughly investigate the matter and take the necessary measures, CEO of the local health authority Anna Maria Petrini told the magazine.
