Waldemar Anton was one of the constants at Borussia Dortmund in 2025/26. The central defender only missed three games due to physical problems, but was otherwise always in the starting line-up. A fact that should not have gone unnoticed by the competition. Apparently BVB doesn’t let their heads get turned so easily.
According to the English “Mirror”, Manchester United are said to be targeting BVB’s Waldemar Anton. Coach Michael Carrick in particular is said to be a big supporter of a transfer. According to the newspaper, around 35 million euros will ensure that the Black and Yellows let their regular player go.
However, “Sky” reports that there has only been a “loose exchange” so far, so a deal is not yet really concrete.
According to the TV station, the Dortmund bosses don’t want to let the German international (13 appearances) go anyway. Instead of generating transfer income, one should be prepared to increase expenditure and adjust Anton’s salary. Any talks should be scheduled after the World Cup.
Anton’s current working paper ends in summer 2028.

However, it is not surprising that the Black and Yellows are said to have little willingness for Anton to leave. Niklas Süle, whose contract was not extended, has ended his career. Emre Can is suffering from a torn cruciate ligament and even Nico Schlotterbeck, who extended his contract in April until 2031, is said to have secured an exit clause that allows him to leave certain clubs in the summer of 2026.
To make matters worse, Ramy Bensebaini is entering his final year of contract. If there is no immediate extension, you would have to think about selling it soon. BVB’s defensive center is not well-stocked anyway.
