Top chef Sauli Kemppainen’s restaurant is closing

Top chef Sauli Kemppainen’s Atelier7 restaurant is closing its doors.

Michelin chef Sauli Kemppainen The Atelier7 restaurant is closing its doors due to financial reasons. Atelier7’s website states that the restaurant will close on November 5.

Atelier7 opened its doors in December 2022, so the restaurant was open for less than a year.

Kemppainen is known as a chef who wants the ingredients to taste as they are. He also focused on accentuating flavors in the Atelier7 restaurant.

– The taste of the food is not compromised. I’d rather break the old rules and stir up an anthill. Gastronomic rules I learned at school don’t interest me at all. Instead, I am interested in logic, practicality, recycling and common sense. The taste is the most important, Kemppainen told Pippuri.fi last winter.

Kemppainen previously lived in Germany, where he ran the Savu restaurant with one Michelin star. Finns became familiar with Kemppainen from the Hell’s Kitchen Suomi program.

In Helsinki, several restaurants have stopped operating within a short period of time. Pikku Napoli pizzerias and Hakaniemi and Kampi Story restaurants have closed their doors, for example. Also a top chef Tomi Björck’s Sanchome closed its doors after less than a year of opening.
