Tooske Ragas is very shocked by the fierce criticism that singer Guus Meeuwis receives. “This is not the case. This is very intense,” said the presenter of Shownieuws.

Guus Meeuwis was in the news last week because he gave two concerts in New York. Not for American fans of course, but for Dutch enthusiasts, including many people from Brabant who traveled after him. Incredibly polluting, many people find it.

Criticism of Guus

It’s really all about Guus on Twitter. “The NOS Journaal pays attention to the Guus Meeuwis concert in New York. All fans from NL who were willing to flee for it. Not a word is mentioned about CO2 emissions from this migration, which is bizarre,” says Christiaan, for example.

And Demi: “Okay, but then we are talking about the environment and your ecological footprint, and then you have f*cking Guus Meeuwis who is going to give a concert in New York and then brags about how many people from Brabant are traveling after him. Isn’t that really the most useless shit ever?”

Tooske is shocked

Frank comes with a remake of Guus’ song about Brabant. “And I walk here alone, through a very bright city. I’ve always hated humanity. And the people are drowning, the world is breaking down. But I performed in New York, and don’t give a f*ck.”

It all comes pretty well to Tooske Ragas, who sees it all pass as a presenter of Shownieuws. “This is not the case. This is very intense.”

‘Can you expect’

Private boss Evert Sankrediets thinks that Guus is not surprised. “Of course you can expect criticism. It is only an event that was already planned two years ago and had to be postponed every time because of corona. You would wonder if he would think of it now, but I believe so, because he already has other cities on his wish list.”

Photographer William Rutten: “What a shame all those people who dare to have fun. It shouldn’t be anymore. Come on guys. The planes fly anyway. No extra plane left, so let’s not make a fuss about everything, shall we? Come on.”

To Tokyo

Selfie hysterica Iris van Lunenburg: “So I have to say: I read an interview with him and the reason is also that he likes it so much that people can have a band shirt, first with Paris on it, then with London and now with New York. I also think that is a bit of a silly reason to fly all the way there.”

Evert: “Yes, the next one on the t-shirt will be Tokyo. Apparently he doesn’t care much about that criticism.”

Bart Ettekoven: “And are all those people we just saw on Twitter with all those comments… Have they never been on a plane on holiday? They never go away themselves?”
