Too much wind: ski flying in Planica canceled – two competitions on Saturday

The wind in Planica is crazy, as is the wind vane

Status: 03/31/2023 5:06 p.m

The first men’s ski flying in Planica, which was planned for Friday, was completely canceled after several postponements due to the weather.

The competition was originally scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on Friday. However, the strong wind made ski flying at over 200 meters impossible. The jury then postponed the start several times and hoped for better conditions. The competition was supposed to start at 5 p.m., but the weather didn’t cooperate again and ski flying was finally canceled. “We tried our best but we didn’t stand a chance“said jury member Borek Sedlak.

The individual jumping will be made up in just one round on Saturday from 8:45 a.m. (Live in the sports show stream) Afterwards, the team jumping that was actually planned for tomorrow should take place – from 9:55 a.m. live on ARD.
