It took Tony Garnett (30) barely ten days to exchange his partner for the Ukrainian refugee who came to live in his house. Now, however, it turns out that Sofiia Karkadym (22) is not the one for him either. “She gets unmanageable when she’s been drinking. I’ve had it with her,” he said in an interview with the Daily Mail.
Garnett and his then wife Lorna (28) wanted to show their big hearts after the war in Ukraine broke out. The couple from Bradford decided to open their house to a refugee, Karkadym became the chosen one in early May. However, it didn’t take long for feelings to come into play.
Lorna accused Sofiia of having a crush on her husband, after which the latter packed her bags. To everyone’s surprise, Tony then went out with him, following his newfound love.
Birthday quarrel
Four months later, however, that relationship also ends. A violent quarrel on his thirtieth birthday turned out to be the last straw. “I left Lorna and my two children for her, but her tantrums have become too much for me,” said the security officer. “However, I did my very best to make this work. The media followed us with a magnifying glass. A break-up would mean that we would be put away as fools, I realized that all too well.”
“I also genuinely felt for her,” Garnett continues. “Because of the war she had to leave her country, she didn’t know anyone here. I felt butterflies in my stomach, but I can’t handle that aggressive side.”
Knife in wall
Last Saturday things got out of hand. “Sofiia planted a knife in the wall several times. I got scared and had no choice but to call the police. I was genuinely concerned for my safety.”
Garnett had meanwhile also provided shelter for two new Ukrainian refugees. This time it was a couple, Sofiia Rastorhuieva and Illia Tronevycde. They were sitting in the front row when the fierce discussion erupted. The Brit is now looking to move with them.
“Even though my relationship with Lorna was doomed, that affair with Sofiia turned out to be a mistake,” Garnett admits. “I really tried to help her. Even now I won’t let her down. Via Google Translate I asked her mother to assist her as much as possible in these difficult times. And I will contact the municipality to find her a new home.”
Front door almost smashed
Karkadym is now reportedly doing everything possible to win back the heart of the security officer. However, subtlety is not in her dictionary. Last night, the young lady even tried to smash his front door. Because of all the noise, the neighbors called the police. Officers eventually found the amok maker in a nearby bush. When they picked her up, she still shouted to Garnett that she loved him.
“I feared something like this would happen,” Garnett testified. “She was banging on my door because she wanted an explanation for our breakup. As a security officer I can defend myself, of course, but I don’t like all that violence.”
“My daughters now come first without a doubt. The fact that I have children with Lorna is a thorn in the side for Sofiia. She was constantly berating my ex, even though she didn’t do anything wrong.”
