That stinks to high heaven: Tommy Lee supposedly only gets into the shower tray once a week. At least that’s what his wife Brittany Furlan has now claimed.
Furlan revealed this dirty secret on a recent episode of the Off the Vine podcast. Discussing the Mötley Crüe drummer’s hygiene habits, she said: “My husband is very tidy, which you wouldn’t expect from a musician. You’d rather assume he’s a fucking nightmare, right? So ‘dirty’… I mean, he doesn’t shower often, but he’s very tidy.”
Throw the baby out with the bathwater
Wait a minute, what was that? Will the age-old rock star cliché of the long-haired dirty finch actually turn out to be true? Asked about the comment, the internet star continued: “He doesn’t like showering. I think it’s European,” she tried to explain. Tommy Lee has Greek roots – he was even born in Greece.
His personal hygiene routine is a relic from his childhood – his mother, in particular, gave him a lot of things, as his wife now reveals. “When he was growing up, his mother said that’s a thing in Europe: you don’t have to shower every day. They would only wash themselves with a washcloth if they felt like they were getting a little dirty. But shower – my husband showers about once a week.”
But things are completely different for her, she quickly added. She clarified that she showers “every night” and washes her hair once a week. “But that’s my thing, I’m overly clean. And I’m depriving my body of all the oils and everything it probably needs.” The actress and comedian has now gotten used to his discomfort with the wet room. “He’s so handsome. It’s really crazy. He’s a really good looking guy. He doesn’t really bother me.”
Not odorless – but tasteless
However, a very special competition at Mötley Crüe must have been unpleasant for outsiders. In 2008, Jon Holmes wrote in his book “Rock Star Babylon” that drummer Lee and bassist Nikki Sixx once held a competition to see who could go the longest without showering or cleaning up – and still be able to seduce groupies. According to Holmes, they were able to go without the cool water for “two months” before a groupie allegedly vomited on Sixx during sex.
Just washed your hands in innocence
Actress Brittany Furlan and the rock musician have been a couple since 2017. They married in 2018 – the fourth marriage for Lee. In May, Tommy Lee was sued for sexual assault. In 2003 he is said to have molested a woman in a helicopter. The musician denies the allegations.
