The Other Side announce their new album “Epithymia” for April 2022 and are already releasing a brand new single with “Das Lied vom Ich”. The Other Side is a new project by actor and musician Tom Schilling and his band.
Until recently, the group still performed as Tom Schilling & The Jazz Kids and had already released the album “Vilnius” under this name in 2017. The line-up has largely remained the same and Moses Schneider also worked on this album again as a producer. Nevertheless, a new musical chapter should be opened with The Other Side.
longing for death?
“Of course I like that ‘The Other Side’ is a metaphor for death. That goes well with a longing album. If you carry this insatiable feeling within you, you experience many things more intensely, but you often also feel strange and homeless in this world,” explains Tom Schilling. “All I know is that the core of my longing is ultimately the desire for inner peace. After arrival. The nothing. So maybe the longing for death thought through to the end,” says the singer.
For the artwork of the album, Schilling therefore also works with the artist Nathalie Huth, who created dark and gloomy collages from old newspapers and photographs. As well as designing the album cover, she will be photographing the singles and exhibiting her images at the live premiere of Epithymia.
The other side is already giving a foretaste of the record with their single “Das Lied vom Ich”
The new album “Epithymia” is scheduled for release on April 22, 2022.
