Tokayev refused to be president of Kazakhstan for more than two terms

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev does not plan to lead the country for more than two terms. About this he declared in an interview with the Khabar 24 TV channel.

“I don’t know how long I will be the president of Kazakhstan, but I absolutely know that, in accordance with the constitution, no more than two terms,” he said and noted that he would not change the constitution.

Tokayev became president in June 2019. He won 70.96% of the vote in the elections.

According to Constitution Kazakhstan, the president is elected for five years. He cannot hold this position more than twice in a row.
