Today’s men may go abroad for a while. It seems an option that they will come from Mexico next summer. “I’ll sit with Johan about it.”

VI to Mexico?
René van der Gijp hopes that VI will be on location, but then abroad. “I would like it – that will never happen, but I will be sitting with him again – to do the World Cup somewhere in a warm country next summer,” he says in the podcast As long as it’s fun.
He seems to go to Mexico, although the US also has warm states and Johan Derksen has a lot of affinity with that. “I would also like that for the editors,” he continues. “For the makeup, for the sound people, you know. They are always there in the same building. That is also nice for them.”

Wilfred: “The last time with that European Championship was of course not such a success, because Johan didn’t want to talk about football. That is quite difficult with a European Championship. Especially if you still have to wait for those matches.”

René thinks differently. “At least you have to be finished until the Netherlands is out. Then the World Cup, World Cup, World Cup, until they are out. Then those orange things go out from the Jumbo and then it is ready. But until then that they are still in it, yes, then everyone is only doing one thing. That is the Netherlands. They want to party and parties and roll over each other.”
Wilfred: “But we will never get Johan that far, I think.”
René: “Well. Sure.”

René: “We can explain that to him.”

What are they going to explain Johan? “That we have to go there?” Says Wilfred.
René: “Also that we have to go there, but also that we – until they are out – can actually talk about nothing but about the Netherlands. That goes fast again, isn’t it. If we are out, they no longer interest it.”
Wilfred: “But a show on location … do you think he can still handle that? He will be 77, he is.”
René thinks so. And himself? “Yes. I would like to continue so long until I get sick.”
