To recover from the stress of the Coronation, King Charles III goes on vacation with Camilla

NoThere’s nothing better than a few days off to recover from an historic – and tiring – event like a Coronation. And while all the other Royals were busy with the final plans of the long weekend of celebrations, King Charles III and Queen Camilla have slipped away in secretleaving Clarence House, their London headquarters, for a full week.

Only a few days of vacation for Charles III and Queen Camilla

The newly crowned king and queen will take a break at Sandringham, where they arrived with few assistants and reduced work commitments to the limit. Carlo will take the opportunity to devote himself to fishing and gardeningand also to visit the many award-winning farms and beehives of the country residence, where he is developing a transformation plan aimed at making the entire estate self-sufficient and avant-garde from an ecological point of view.

«Camilla is a lot busy»

«The Queen is very busy these days»: this is the answer that Camilla’s team at Buckingham Palace is giving to all those who want to contact her. Indeed, the first will be held on 11 June in the historic Hampton Court Palace Queen’s Reading Room Festival, literary event inspired by the success of the online book club launched by the then Duchess of Cornwall during the pandemic. And between walks in the vast Sandringham park with her dogs Beth and Bluebell, the queen will take advantage of the break at Sandringham to devote herself to reading the books on the programme.

Upcoming events: the Trooping The Colour and theOrder of the Garter

A well-deserved vacation, also because in the coming weeks we will see the king and queen in several important appointments, in which they will be able to show again all that traditional regalia so admired during the Coronation.

First there will be the trooping the colour, on June 17, to celebrate Carlo’s birthday (well in advance, given that he turns 75 next November). Two days later it will be the turn of the ceremony in Windsor of theOrder of the Garterthe Order of the Garter, the oldest and most exclusive order of chivalry headed by Charles.

Then Charles III and Camilla will (again) pack their bags

Scheduled for the King and Queen in the coming weeks are on also several trips that will take them to every corner of the UK – a way to show oneself close to the people and to thank the British citizens for the affection shown during the Coronation, with thousands of parties organized throughout the country in honor of Charles and Camilla.

But why have they gone to Sandringham now?

The choice of location surprised British royal watchers a lot. After all, at Sandringham, Queen Elizabeth practically only went there during the Christmas period and in the spring he preferred, instead, to escape for a few days to Balmoral, in Scotland. Just in these days, then, he was staying in Windsor, to participate in the Royal Horse Show, the equestrian event she loved so much. But her son Charles III has decided to adopt a whole new routine, revealing preferences that are very different from those of his mother.

Where will King Charles III and Queen Camilla spend the summer?

If for decades Elizabeth II had accustomed us to her Scottish holidays, bringing her whole family with her (staggered), Charles and Camilla have different ideas. It seems, in fact, that the new king does not like going back to Balmoral very much. He was there for a few days before the Coronation but at court they say Charles finds the experience too sad. Every corner reminds him of his mother, who died right in his residence last September. And this year he may decide not to go back for the holidays.
