Lukas Nmecha leaves VfL Wolfsburg after his contract on June 30th in his old homeland in England. The 26-year-old signed a two-year contract with Premier League promoted Leeds United, as both clubs said. A transfer is not due for the club trained by the German Daniel Farke. NMECHA is the first new addition to the Whites for the coming season in the English Oberhaus.
The seven -time German international had spent the youth at Manchester City, where he became a professional in 2019. Immediately afterwards, a first loan to Wolfsburg followed. VfL finally committed the Hamburg -born in 2021, after spending further borrowing in Middlesbrough and at the RSC Anderlecht, for 8 million euros.
NMECHA started strongly in Wolfsburg and debut under Hansi Flick in the DFB team. However, major injury problems prevented the final breakthrough: Because of various injuries, NMECHA missed around 70 games of the wolves. Ultimately, he scored 19 goals and four templates for the Lower Saxony. Its market value fell from EUR 18 million in winter 2021/22 up to currently EUR 3 million.
