Titus Dittmann, founder of the skateboard dealer Titus, was included in the “Skateboarding Hall of Fame”.
The German skateboard legend was honored in Los Angeles on Friday and received the trophy in the “Icons” category [Eng.: Ikonen]the retailer based in Münster said on Monday.
Dittmann founded Titus in 1978 to import skateboards from the USA. A little later he opened the first skate shop in Münster. This was followed by their own skateboard team and the skate competition “Münster Monster Mastership”, which after a few years developed into the official World Cup in skateboarding. As a result, skateboard icons such as the American Tony Hawk came to Münster from the end of the 80s.
In the meantime, Dittmann is no longer active in the company. He is more devoted to his non-profit projects such as Skate Aid, which is intended to make children worldwide through “the power of the skateboard”.
His son Julius Dittmann has been leading the company for around 15 years, which is currently in a renovation process. Meanwhile, the business continues in the 16 stores.
