Tina Turner: The most beautiful photos of her dazzling career

Photo album: We share with you very special, important moments in the life of Tina Turner.

Tina Turner not only had an extremely successful, but also an extremely enduring, dazzling career. She gained her first experience as a singer in the mid-1950s in the church choir in her hometown of Nutbush. In the ’60s and ’70s she made music with her then-husband Ike Turner. Eventually we got to know her as a solo artist and celebrated her more than ever. We want to share with you very special photos of their equally extraordinary life.

The first picture of Anna Mae Bullock, the singer’s real name, dates back to the 1960s, the exact date can no longer be determined. At that time she was probably already dating Ike Turner, from whom she separated in 1976. He also gave her the stage name “Tina”. This is what the Queen of Rock looked like at the beginning of her career.

The career of the later Swiss-by-choice quickly picked up speed in the 70s. The Ike & Tina Turner Revue toured first through the USA and later also through Europe.

With her album PRIVATE DANCER (from 1984) she finally achieved her worldwide breakthrough. She played countless shows worldwide and was always supported by other greats of the scene (David Bowie, Lionel Richie). She also acted in various films, including Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985), for which she contributed a song to the soundtrack. The photos from that time show her with her trendsetter hairstyle – the “shag”.

Tina Turner had now cemented her superstar status and was an integral part of pop culture. And so her success story continued. In 1992 the biopic “Tina – What’s Love Got to Do With It?” was released, in 1995 she sang the theme song for “James Bond – GoldenEye”. In 1999 her last studio album TWENTY FOUR SEVEN was finally released, with which she went on a big world tour the following year.

After the turn of the millennium, Turner released a few more singles, and in 2008 she went on a final world tour with “Tina!: The 50th Anniversary Tour”. She then ended her stage career at the age of 69.
