Jessica von Bredow -Werndl, Isabell Werth, Marcus Ehning – The German Championships in dressage and show jumping are prominently occupied.
After the Balve Optimum from June 12th to 15th, eight German championship titles will be awarded – in jumping riding, dressage and para dressage. The small town of Balve in the Sauerland has been hosting for the German championships since 2008 – and it will remain. The German Equestrian Association (FN) has extended the expiring contract until 2030.
Where can I the Germans Championships See live?
The WDR will broadcast the decisions in dressage and show jumping on Saturday from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. and on Sunday from 3:15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m.
ARD radio and the social media channel “with the horses” and report on tournament events will also be reported on site.
Which German championship titles are awarded?
In contrast to international top events, in addition to the open category, there is also a competition for women, in contrast to international top events. In dressage, the masters in the Grand Prix Special and in the Grand Prix freestyle are sought, both titles are also to be awarded for the U25 dressage riders. There are also two titles in para dressage.
Which show jumpers are at the start?
Although many are topped in the world rankings, German tournaments are more lucrative, but the list of starter is still impressive. Among other things, the organizers have announced Richard Vogel (10th place in the world) and veteran Marcus Ehning (48th place in the world). Mario Stevens, David Will, Felix Haßmann and Maurice Tebbel are also there.
Marco Kutscher, once German champion 20 years ago, brings Mumbai and Cartelli to Balve. “The German championships are not easy, this is already sport at the very highest level and very high in terms of sport,” he told the FN.

Who are the record winners?
Ludger Beerbaum came to nine German championship titles in his long jumping riding career, the last one dates from 2011. Eva Bitter has collected six gold medals in the women’s ranking, most recently she won in 2014. In the 1950s, Helga Köhler also won six titles, the DM predecessor “German Spring Championship”.
In dressage, Isabell Werth is at the front with 17 titles and a large distance.
