The new documentary “Schumacher ’94” is launching on Netflix. In it, Corinna Schumacher speaks on behalf of her husband about a legendary year.
Former Formula 1 racing driver Michael Schumacher has been shielded from the public since a serious skiing accident resulting in a head injury in 2013. Few have access to Schumacher, who is cared for at his Lake Geneva home. All the more remarkable is a documentary now announced by Netflix in which his wife Corinna Schumacher takes part and opens up.
Specifically, the production, which is called “Schumacher ’94” and whose exact start date has not yet been announced, takes fans back to 1994: It was a particularly tragic Formula 1 season, but in which Schumacher also laid the foundation for his unprecedented career and won the first of a total of seven world championship titles.
The year was drastic, among other things, because of the fatal accident involving Ayrton Senna, who died at the age of 34. At the time, a real hype developed around the German racing driver Schumacher, now 57 years old.
In the documentary, Corinna Schumacher also gives insights into her extraordinary love story with Michael, with whom the 57-year-old has two children: Mick, 26, and Gina-Maria, 28. According to information from “Bild”, Mick, who is a racing driver himself, will also take part in the documentary, as well as other companions of the Formula 1 icon.
“Schumacher ’94” will be about “the most legendary Formula 1 season of all time,” the streaming service Netflix announced on Wednesday evening at an event in Berlin about the upcoming highlights of 2026.
