Timberland Pro launches women’s clothing and lets guests build benches together

Timberland Pro launched its first clothing line for women this week with a brand-themed event: journalists and influencers were invited to the Happy Medium workshop in lower Manhattan, New York, to build their own bank .

Founded in 1952 as The Abington Shoe Company, the New Hampshire-based brand was renamed The Timberland Company in 1978. Their first product was the iconic Timberland boot, which also celebrates its 50th anniversary this week. To mark this milestone, the brand has introduced performance-oriented workwear for women, designed with the same craftsmanship and innovation as the footwear. Guests at the opening event were asked to wear clothing items from the range while drilling, screwing and assembling the benches, which were then delivered to their homes.

Whether as a result of the pandemic home improvement craze or in response to data showing that American women have recently experienced growth in employment in previously male-dominated fields such as construction, transportation and warehousing, and as these numbers are expected to continue to rise, the collection couldn’t be released at a better time.

“Built to work as hard as the wearer and provide maximum comfort, durability and performance for the fast-growing craft market,” reads the release, “the evolution of women’s clothing has been designed for industries such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, woodworking and more.”

The technical and fashion characteristics of the first Timberland Pro women’s clothing

Timberland Pro’s first womenswear collection was released on August 15th and more styles will be added throughout the fall season. The Performance collection is based on the menswear essentials with the familiar dungarees, utility pants, jeans, hoodies, insulated jackets and logo t-shirts in a color palette of olive, tan, black and soft red and blue marl. A representative of the brand said that special attention was paid to developing the fit of the dungarees so that the women’s version doesn’t just look like a borrowing from the men. Select models feature Timberland PRO® Flex technology and WorkVentTM technology for added breathability and freedom of movement.

Two hours after their arrival, the women in the workroom proudly inspected their finished benches, now gleaming with a coat of Danish oil to seal the wood and show off its natural grain. Timberland Pro has already started to do its job.
