Timberland launches take-back program for used shoes and apparel

The US lifestyle brand Timberland is also launching the new “Timberloop Take-Back Program” in Germany on Earth Day on April 22nd. This gives customers the opportunity to return used Timberland shoes, clothing or accessories. Timberland then plans to either disassemble these products into individual parts for reuse or recycling into new products, or prepare them for resale on their own website. The Timberloop program is designed to close the loop and keep products and materials in circulation for as long as possible.

“Timberland products are already designed to be durable and long-lasting, and it’s important to extend them after use for a second life out of landfill,” says Susie Mulder, Timberland’s Global Brand President.

The brand is also launching the Timberloop Trekker City Hiker for Earth Day. The shoe was specially developed for circulation. In addition to sneaker-like comfort and an outdoor look, the City Hiker features a construction that allows the outsole to be easily removed and disassembled for recycling via the Timberloop platform.

The program has been running in the USA since January and is now being extended to the UK, Germany, France and Italy on the occasion of Earth Day. More are to follow.

Worn products can be returned via Timberland stores and the online shop.
