Tim van Rijthoven has been voted tennis player of the year 2022 by the KNLTB. De Roosendaler caused a stunt last summer by winning the Libéma Open grass tournament in Rosmalen.
The 25-year-old Van Rijthoven received the prize from jury member Richard Krajicek on Monday evening. “You defeated top players such as Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz in Rosmalen. This award is intended as a congratulations for a great performance and an extra helping hand,” said Krajicek at the National Tennis Center in Amstelveen.
Van Rijthoven reached the fourth round at Wimbledon shortly after Rosmalen’s tournament. In it he lost to the Serbian Novak Djokovic, who eventually won the title.
