The drones are flown over land in New Jersey. Zo wilden de makers de regels rond het luchtruim van New York City niet schenden. Drones zijn namelijk verboden within the city limits. De makers omschreven het as a “confijt carnaval”. Fernanda Romano, planning for marketing noemde het “a light show of 10 minutes, with the hemel as the largest shear on the planeet”.
Terwijl sommigen verheuugd naar boven keken, maakten other bezwaar. The plaatselijke Democratic state senator Brad Hoylman protested the stunt at the time that he “shameful” was about “the beautiful skyline of the city and the better part of the profit”. Het bedreigt volgens hem ook de vogels: “Miljoenen trekvogels vliegen elk jaar over de stad en veel vogels botsen op verlichte gebouwen of kunnen gedesoriënteerd raken door objects zoals drones”.
