The DHB Cup final in Cologne was decided by a goalkeeper. The “Man of the Match” had a brilliant day with 16 parades.

He has already done it again: Handball goalkeeper Andreas Wolff, currently under contract with the THW Kiel, contributed significantly to the cup final against the Melsungen with 16 parades on Sunday. Kiel won around 20,000 fans in the Cologne Lanxess Arena on Sunday with 28:23.

After the game of the game, his teammates almost tore down the 1.98 meter man Wolff. And the opponent also paid tribute to the goalkeeper. “Andi was world class,” said Melsungen’s right wing Timo Kastening to his teammate. The 34-year-old was elected “Man of the Match” after the end of the game.

Wolff was relieved after the victory: “I am happy and happy and would like to let it sag for now to understand it,” said the THW goalkeeper. With 16 parades, the native of Euskirchen was well above the average in the cup final – this is 8 to 12 parades per game. The THW star can have 246 parades in this year’s handball Bundesliga.

Kiel got the better start in his 16th cup final. After nine minutes, the North Germans already led three points because Melsungen initially found no solutions against the compact defense of the rival.

Kiel was able to expand the lead and last to the end. THW trainer Filip Jicha said: “It is indescribable. I feel a maximum pride in the team. She has proven great morality.”
