The KNMI has issued code yellow for the north and east of the country for Thursday afternoon and evening. They warn of thunderstorms, local wind gusts of around 60 kilometers per hour and a lot of rain in a short time. 30 mm can fall in an hour and there is also a chance of hailstones of up to 2 centimeters. This warning applies to the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland and Limburg, as it now appears between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Thunderstorms and big hailstones

On Thursday it will be beautiful summer weather until the afternoon, with temperatures in the east and northeast can reach 30 degrees, but in the second half of the afternoon the weather will change and thunderstorms may start. Those showers will move north in the evening. In the meantime, traffic and outdoor activities may be hindered by the weather, according to the KNMI.

Weather forecast for the weekend

After the heavy showers, the wind turns southwest to west, which means that it will not be as warm on Friday and into the weekend as it has been in recent days. With temperatures of about 24 degrees and without showers, it is still very nice summer weather. The weather after the weekend remains a bit changeable, but the sun is still showing itself a lot.

If it does rain, you’d better make something cozy out of it. How? By turning that boring umbrella into a cheerful one:
