Thrift store Veenoord open again after fire: ‘Continue in good spirits’

Cleaning up will be done little by little. The thrift store has had difficult years due to the corona crisis and has almost no reserves. “It entails a lot of costs. The foundation can’t actually afford that. But we have to try to clean up as cheaply as possible. It will take a while before it is completely cleaned up.”

“Because we have to do it with volunteers, it will take longer than usual I think,” continues Boer. “The big trailer will be picked up next week. Fortunately, we get help from all sides. People who come here voluntarily to help, who wouldn’t otherwise walk around here. People from whom we can borrow their waste cards, so that we can go to the recycling center.”
