Thrift store destroyed by fire: man (46) arrested

A suspect has been arrested for arson at the thrift store in Veldhoven. It concerns a 46-year-old man from Valkenswaard. The police announced this on Monday. There were no casualties in Saturday night’s massive fire.

The fire on the De Run industrial estate in Veldhoven completely destroyed the De Kempen thrift store. The fire spread from the thrift store to a building next door.

The suspect, who has now been arrested, soon came into the picture in the police investigation after the fire. Further investigation must now show whether he is actually involved in the fire.

The fire was discovered by the fire brigade itself around a quarter past three on Saturday night. On the way back from another report, firefighters saw the fire on the industrial estate. An NL Alert was sent because of the smoke development and a number of people in the area had to leave their homes to be on the safe side.
