In particular, it is bothering you that local residents were not included in the plans. “We knew nothing, until we discovered the news ourselves. I had contact with the Traffic Transport Working Group, which is about traffic. He indicated that I would keep informed, but that did not happen.”
Yesterday afternoon he handed in the petition to the municipality of Coevorden. “I don’t know if it is useful. Alderman Reden said that the plans will continue because they are already in the output phase.”
The municipality of Coevorden has indicated that the wish for new thresholds comes from the village itself. In a written response, the municipality announced: “In conversations about road safety with village interests in the entire municipality, various wishes emerged. For Dalen, among other things, measures on Dalerveensestraat, at the Sportpark. A survey of Dorpsbelangen Dalen showed that many residents also needed it. The digital survey of the municipality was also mentioned.”
In addition, the municipality mentions road safety in and around Dalen as a reason to place the thresholds. “Our traffic measurements show that there is often a lot harder than the permitted 60 kilometers per hour. All in all, this shows that road safety requires extra attention here.” After discussions with the Traffic Transport Working Group from Dalen, it was decided to place the thresholds.
The municipality also emphasizes that the planned plateaus are not high barriers that cause a lot of nuisance. “The lowest variant of eight centimeters has been chosen. Large vehicles, such as tractors and trucks, can continue to use the road well.”
Uineken hopes that the parties involved will still sit down with each other before the thresholds are laid, but fears that there is no room for that anymore. “The municipality has dropped stitches in communication to local residents. I am very sorry that they are not taking responsibility now,” says Uineken.
According to the municipality’s planning, the thresholds will be laid from today. The Dalerveensestraat is therefore closed up to and including Friday.
The Safe Traffic Transport Working Group from Dalen was not available for comment.
