Three serious injuries were made on Thursday evening in a major fire in an apartment complex on Brahmslaan in Eindhoven. The blazing fire preceded an explosion on a balcony. The fire eventually raged on two floors in different apartments.

The fire was under control around half past ten. The residents of the complex have had to leave their homes temporarily. The emergency services are going to see who can return to their house and who gets shelter elsewhere on Thursday night.

Facade beaten out
The fire broke out just before nine in an apartment on the third floor of the apartment complex. Then the fire skipped on the fourth floor. The facade of the apartment where the fire broke out was destroyed.

According to witnesses, that facade is ‘clapped out of the apartment’ after a loud bang. The fire brigade also takes into account an explosion prior to the fire. There was a lot of glass around the complex, especially in the parking lot next to the flat.

‘People were stuck’
A witness says that people were stuck on the balcony right next to the apartment where the fire broke out. “In addition to she could only be seen fire. Those people seemed injured and I think I couldn’t go outside at the back. It was terrible,” she says.

A woman who lives right above the apartment where the fire broke out is worried about her cat. She was not at home when the fire broke out. “I have no idea what the intention is,” she says. Her cat is not justified around a quarter past eleven.

Emergency services came to the Brahmslaan en masse:

Scaled up to GRIP-1
The fire brigade was present with many vehicles. There were also seven ambulances and a trauma helicopter on site. A police helicopter circled circles above the neighborhood. The fire attracted a lot of attention from bystanders.

Around ten past nine, GRIP-1 was scaled up. If GRIP-1 is announced, several disciplines are involved in combating a fire. Initially, the fire was classified as ‘very large’ by the emergency services.

It is still unclear what exactly happened and what kind of explosion it would go. The police have to investigate this, but that investigation will not take place on Thursday night.
