Three new grain ships leave Ukraine on Friday

Three new ships carrying grain will leave Ukraine on Friday, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said. He did not say from which ports the ships will depart.

Last Monday, for the first time since the start of the war in Ukraine, a shipment of grain departed from the port of Odessa. After an inspection by Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian experts near Istanbul, the ship resumed its voyage on Thursday.

In July, Ukraine and Russia agreed to resume grain transport across the Black Sea. The aim of that agreement, which was negotiated by Turkey and the UN, is to prevent a global food crisis.
