Italy started with ten new players on the field compared to the 3-0 lost game against Argentina. No fewer than five players made their debut for La Squadra Azzurra tonight. This did not have the desired effect in the first half, because it was a sleep-inducing duel. The only two highlights were a long shot by Gianluca Scamacca and a wild shot by Leroy Sané that went over the goal. In particular, Sané’s chance should have been 0-1.

After the break, the two teams continued where they left off. There was no spectacle until Pellegrini broke open the match. The left winger only had to tap the ball into the goal from close range after good preparatory work by Gnonto. The goal caused Germany to wake up, because less than three minutes later it was equal. Joshua Kimmich got the ball in front of the feet in a full penalty area and shot with the inside of the foot.

In the remainder of the game, no great opportunities were created and the two countries were left with a point from the game. Earlier in the day, Hungary already won against England, so that the Hungarians now surprisingly lead in group 3.
