Three people were injured on Tuesday evening in an accident on the A16 near Breda-Noord. The accident involved two cars and a van. The driver of the van has been arrested by the police. A saliva test shows that he has used narcotics.

All three injured people were taken to hospital by ambulance. This concerns the drivers of the cars and a co-driver. One of them first had to be removed from a car by the fire brigade.

An air ambulance was called to the accident. It is not known whether it also landed on the highway. It is also unclear what the cause of the accident is.

Road closed
The road towards Antwerp is closed between the Zonzeel junction and Breda-Noord.

Because the emergency services will still be busy for the time being, traffic will be diverted from the Klaverpolder junction. You can take a detour via the A17 and A58.

Police investigation and repair
According to Rijkswaterstaat, the handling of the accident will take until three o’clock tonight. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and the cars will then be recovered. Only when this has been done can Rijkswaterstaat repair the guardrail.
