Thousands of visitors enjoy high quality at the Keramiekmarkt in Dwingeloo

Traditionally on Ascension Day, the Keramiekmarkt Noord-Nederland Dwingeloo was held on the large green of Dwingeloo. Just under six thousand visitors enjoyed beautiful ceramics.

Ceramic art is flourishing in the Netherlands. Around 200 ceramists are members of the Stichting Keramisten Noord-Nederland. Three-quarters of them wanted to show their work at the ceramics market in Dwingeloo, together with ceramists from other parts of the Netherlands and artists from England, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy and Hungary. This was preceded by a strict selection. Attention was paid to quality and originality.

The large green provided enough space for the approximately ninety participants to set up their exhibition stalls, with everything from classical pottery to modern sculptures. The various demonstrations, workshops and an appropriate musical contribution made the 30th edition a great success. The organization was showered with compliments from both visitors and participating ceramists.

Nominees for the North Netherlands Ceramics Prize 2023 were: Christine Möhring from Vierssen in Germany, Caroline Peeters from Eindhoven and Edith Tergau from Beegden. This prize, a cash prize sponsored by Wiechers Wonen from Dwingeloo, eventually went to Edith Tergau and was awarded by Mr. Wiechers from Wiechers Wonen in Dwingeloo and Ommen.

The ‘Draaiprijs Noord-Nederland’, also a cash prize and sponsored by Stichting Keramiekmarkt Noord-Nederland Dwingeloo and VeKa from Dreumel, was presented by Mrs Duller of VeKa. Ellen Rijsdorp received this prize. The other nominees for this award were José Maria Mariscal Paneque from Albons Spain and Silke Wellmeijer from Tecklenburg Germany.

The organization and its volunteers look back on a very successful day.
