TakecareBnb is an initiative that started in 2015 when large numbers of Syrian refugees came to Europe. “It started with the idea of someone who had been somewhere via AirBnb, a platform where you as a tourist rent a room or apartment through private individuals, and wondered why there wasn’t something similar for refugees,” says Lilly Wiggers of TakecareBnb. “Status holders can stay with a host family instead of waiting for accommodation in an asylum seekers’ center. This makes the flow from the asylum seekers’ centers easier.”
