Thousands of comics go up in fire, collector Jos (56) gets 6,000 ‘new’ from thrift shop: “Even with twenty Suske en Wiskes I’m happy”

Jos Gysels (56) knew the exact spot in the house for each of his 5,000 albums. Until a fire in a few hours reduced his comic collection to a heap of scrap. The local thrift shop held a collection campaign and nearly 6,000 comics will find their way to Jos: “I already saw a ‘Blake and Mortimer’ by Edgar P. Jacobs, Hergé’s right-hand man. My heart skipped a beat.”
