“Those lederhosen are our best investment ever”: The Romeos give surprise performance at Moose Bar at Tomorrowland | THE FESTIVAL SUMMER

It doesn’t immediately seem like a name you would expect at a festival like Tomorrowland, but look: none other than De Romeo’s were allowed to start the second festival weekend on Friday evening with a surprise performance in the Moose Bar. “We were already at Tomorrowland in 2019, but then we were also on the bill. This time it’s actually even more fun, because nobody knows we’re coming,” say Chris Van Tongelen, Gunther Levi and Davy Gilles just before they start their set. They perform – of course – in lederhosen. “You can’t get off in your swimming trunks in the Moose Bar,” Chris laughs. “Although with this weather it wouldn’t be such a punishment. No, those lederhosen turned out to be our best investment ever. We regularly play at après-ski parties, so they often come in handy. And we can also put them on at home,” he jokes.

According to the gentlemen, it is not true that they are a strange duck in the bite between all that DJ violence. “Actually, we play a lot for young people like here, that’s really our audience. We would almost dare to say that we are hip”, Davy smiles. “Festivals increasingly provide a kind of party hut, where we fit in perfectly. We recently played at the Fantasia Festival, and we had more people there than in front of the main stage. But of course playing at Tomorrowland remains very special. Artists would give money to be here.” Gunther agrees: “When we tell friends we can perform here, they always say the same thing: Tomorrowland is magical.”

And so they hope to be on the poster of the Boomse festival next year. “Although we hope to be able to stand on the podium next to the VIP area of ​​Versuz (The Library, ed.). That would be ideal, because next year we will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of De Romeo’s. We are now manifesting that it works!” Judging by the enthusiastic response from the crowd in the Moose Bar, they are certainly welcome there.
