Thor begs his dead father Odin to protect his daughter. The new “Avengers 5” teaser shows Hemsworth in a moving father role – with a real daughter.
Marvel has released another teaser for Avengers 5: Doomsday, revealing the return of Thor to the big screen. After the opening with Captain America, the second trailer shows the god of thunder, played by Chris Hemsworth, in a new, emotional role: as a father. Thor prays to his late father Odin, played by Anthony Hopkins, for the strength to protect his daughter – and for the grace to return to her alive.
Hemsworth’s real-life daughter plays Thor’s child
The focus of the teaser is Thor’s foster daughter Love, the child of his former opponent Gorr (Christian Bale), whom he adopted. The role will be played by Hemsworth’s own daughter, India Rose Hemsworth. The preview makes it clear that Thor’s role as a father will be central to the plot and will once again draw him into the fight against the titular evil.
Children of the heroes as a central theme
Shortly before Christmas, the first teaser already focused on Captain America and showed that the hero has now become a father. Marvel is thus continuing a trend: in “Avengers 5,” the heroes’ children seem to play a central narrative role. This fits with the end credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, in which Doctor Doom shows great interest in the son of Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) and Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal). Fans are now speculating that Doom may be targeting the heroes’ children – driven by their own loss.

“Avengers: Doomsday” will once again be directed by the Russo brothers, who confirmed their return behind the camera in 2024. Marvel plans to release a total of at least four teaser trailers a year before the film’s theatrical release. Each trailer will be shown exclusively before selected cinema screenings for one week before being made available online. The next preview will be dedicated to the “X-Men” and will present several characters at the same time.

“Avengers 5: Doomsday” opens in German cinemas on December 16, 2026. The successor “Avengers 6” is announced for December 15, 2027.
