Thomas van Groningen has sleeping problems and if he lies awake early in the morning and turns on Good Morning Netherlands, he falls asleep again. A spicy sneer at Sam Hagens…

TV talents Thomas van Groningen and Sam Hagens made a reverse transfer: the first went from WNL to SBS 6, the second from SBS 6 to WNL. Since then, things have been going to a crescendo with Thomas – he is the celebrated boy of Talpa – and with the other less so. Sam has still not lived up to the high expectations.

Thomas critical

It seems like Sam himself isn’t quite either happy is with his role at WNL, because according to Luuk Ikink he recorded a pilot for RTL. There they are looking for a permanent replacement for Renze Klamer, and Sam’s direct WNL colleagues Welmoed Sijtsma and Frank van Leeuwen are also said to have auditioned.

Hélène Hendriks shouts in the latest The Orange Summer that it should be Sam, but what does Thomas think? “Sam is good, yes, but I also like Frank and I also like Welmoed. You know? If I’m completely honest, I wouldn’t do it for a while. Leave those people.”

Work to be done

Thomas, who had a mega argument with Sam three years ago, delivers a big blow. “They are in a good place at Goedemorgen Nederland and there is still quite a lot of work to be done there, because that is just not a very good program.”

Hélène: “What don’t you like about it then?”

Thomas: “That’s real… I have quite a bit of sleep problems, so I work late and wake up in the morning and then I just fall asleep again.”

Casual television

Hélène is shocked. “Are you serious? I always put it on and I love it.”

Bar guest Victor Vlam: “It’s relaxed.”

Thomas: “I think it’s really terrible… And that couch and questions… The way of asking questions is to pretend to be critical, but it’s nothing. Now go and do that first!”

Victor concludes approvingly: “Oh, terrible.”
