Thomas Tuchel confirms next new signing

After weeks of a transfer saga, FC Bayern has apparently secured urgently needed defensive reinforcements. On Saturday, coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Sacha Boey will soon become a Munich player.

“It is our wish to sign him. It is almost clear, I think. But the medical check has not been done yet and therefore there is nothing to announce,” said the coach before the Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg.

The 23-year-old right-back most recently played for the Turkish top club Galatasaray and is reportedly set to receive a long-term contract with the record champions.

According to Sky, FC Bayern will pay around 28 million euros as a transfer fee for the Frenchman. This sum therefore includes all possible bonus payments. It is not known how high the base fee should be.

The deal had become more and more apparent in the last few days. On Saturday morning, Boey finally traveled to Munich to complete the medical check there.

After Eric Dier, Boey would be FC Bayern’s second winter transfer. The 30-year-old central defender had previously been signed by Tottenham Hotspur.

FC Bayern urgently needed reinforcements

In the last few weeks, the Munich team has been looking at numerous candidates for the right side of defense on the transfer market. Until recently there was also said to be interest in Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United) and Nordi Mukiele (Paris Saint-Germain).

FC Bayern is said to have made offers for both players. Ultimately, however, an agreement could not be reached.

The defensive situation for the series champions had recently become even worse. In the catch-up game against Union Berlin on Wednesday, two important pillars, Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer, were injured again. Both will be out for weeks with muscle injuries.

Since Minjae Kim is still at the Asian Cup with South Korea, Bayern have recently simply run out of players for defense. Boey could therefore become immediately important and move into the starting line-up immediately after a short start-up period.
