The speculation about Thomas Müller’s future does not tear off. At the beginning of the week, “Sky” and “Bild” reported that the 35 -year -old offensive player will move to the USA. “Of course I dealt with these topics – sometimes to look outside the box. I think that the MLS is already an interesting league, especially with regard to the World Cup next year,” said Müller in an interview with the “ZDF”.
Müller confirmed the media reports with his statement to which club he will draw it is not yet clear. FC Cincinnati has the Discovery Rights, i.e. the exclusive right of negotiation for the former international. Each franchise can rely up to seven players on its secret discovery list, the league pays attention to the authenticity and the affiliation of interest. Discovery Rights can be exchanged and bought, as a rule the clubs find an agreement. It was the same with Marco Reus, who initially stood on the Discovery right list at Charlotte FC and later landed at La Galaxy. In addition to Cincinnati, the Los Angeles FC should also show interest, who recently handed over Olivier Giroud to Lille and thus created space on the salary list. For a few days now, however, Heung-Min Son from Tottenham has been very popular.
A career end was not an issue for FC Bayern’s record player. “I still feel like playing football, and therefore I also decided to continue playing. Accordingly, I try to take the chance – even if I am no longer in Europe and no longer play for the Champions League,” explained Müller. He has been part of the record champions since 2008 and completed 756 games.
Müller would be the 19th German in the MLS, most of them play at St. Louis City, where Lutz Pfannenstiel leads the sporty fortunes. The 2014 world champion is aware that the farewell to FC Bayern is also a change. “It will definitely be an experience abroad for me – I’m really looking forward to it. I am of course aware that if you go away from FC Bayern, I am different conditions. Accordingly, I’m curious.”
