The gripping finale of the Casketball European Championship was also followed thousands of kilometers west of Riga. Thomas Müller did not miss the final – and celebrated the German selection.

After 32 years of break, Germany is again European basketball champion. The reigning world champions around captain Dennis Schröder defeated Turkey with 88:83 in the final on Sunday and celebrated another success.

The prominent congratulations also included Thomas Müller, who apparently followed the game in Vancouver. Shortly after the end of the game, the German footballer posted a video of himself on X, in which he celebrated the national basketball team: “This is how it looks, boys. Horny shit!”, Schwarge Müller and added: “European champion Samma! Doubleheader, world champion and European champion. Let’s go, boys!”

Basketball legend Dirk Nowitzki also spoke up, wrote on X: “European champion !!!!”

Chancellor Friedrich Merz also congratulated the German team on the title double. “World champion and European champion, what a sensational achievement,” wrote the CDU politician at X: “Congratulations to our German national basketball team on this great EM and this exciting finale.”

Ingo Weiss, President of the German Basketball Federation (DBB), bowed to the German European champions. “It was incredible. The boys wanted it that way, you saw it, they fought,” said the leader of the association at RTL. “Everyone fights for the other, nobody wants to be the star. The star is the team.”

In the final, four players scored at least ten points, Andreas Obst also got nine points. “If one is not in a good mood, one or two throws next to it, then the other one puts this throws in,” says Weiss.

Star player Franz Wagner also emphasized this cohesion. “This team is just awesome. It goes so far beyond the court. We are all brothers,” he said in magenta. The Orlando Magic Forward emphasized: “Germany is world and European champions in basketball. We are exactly where we belong- and we still have a few really good people at home.” Including his brother Moritz, who had to follow the tournament from home due to a cruciate ligament tear, but had just as much to celebrate as Thomas Müller.
