Eunice Storm really exists. She is 18 and she lives in Zierikzee. On this rambunctious Friday, she is inundated with messages and silly comments. She can laugh about it. “But I really think the storm is terrible. Because if my hair isn’t right, my whole day is ruined.”
“Oh, no, there’s Eunice! Wouldn’t it have been better if you stayed at home?” Eunice was welcomed on Friday morning by her classmates from Hoornbeeck College in Goes. Her phone almost explodes from all the messages. Someone wrote: ‘Can I get my fence back? That has just blown away.” I replied: ‘Yeah, just send a little bit’.” Eunice finds all this attention very funny. She was even invited to talk show on Friday evening Beau. She drives through the storm to the studio in Amsterdam.
‘Catious character’
Her character is just as boisterous as this Friday, says Eunice herself. “I have my talk with me, and I like jokes,” she says with a laugh. ,,I am the only girl at home: I have one younger brother and four older brothers. They always say I’m quite present.”
Eunice – you pronounce it in Dutch – read a while ago that the fifth storm of this season would bear her first name. ,,When it was Corrie’s turn two weeks ago, I already thought: ‘Oh, now it’s going fast’. And last week a classmate already said I was in the news. But I didn’t think there would be so much attention for Eunice today. I had no idea the storm would be so violent. I’m used to some wind, but when I was on the bus after school this afternoon, driving over the Zeeland Bridge, I couldn’t see anything around me: just wind, rain and water. Then I thought it was quite scary.”
