The weather will be beautiful during Christmas this year. Rico Schröder from Weerplaza said this on Monday morning in the radio program KEIgoeiemorgen on Omroep Brabant. Although some will think differently: it will be quite cold.

According to the weatherman, the wind is the culprit this Christmas. Schröder: “Due to the strong northeasterly wind, the temperature drops significantly. It can freeze 4 or 5 degrees locally in the night before Christmas.”

On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, the temperature during the day is around freezing point. “We have clear blue skies on both days. The weather is simply beautiful. The sun is shining, but it is very cold. Because of the strong northeasterly wind, the feeling temperature will be around -10 degrees.”

For people who hope for a white Christmas with such apparent temperatures, the weatherman from Weerplaza has bad news. We won’t get that this year either. “It will remain dry all this week and well, you do need precipitation if you want to have a white Christmas. But it will be a wintery Christmas in terms of temperature.”

After the weekend the wind will blow more from the north and some moist air will come our way. “Then, with these kinds of temperatures, a flake of snow could fall during the last days of the year. But that is all still very uncertain. However, the chance is not lost that we might see something swirl this year.”

“The wind makes it feel colder than the temperature on the thermometer.”

Until Christmas we maintain temperatures of 5 to 6 degrees during the day. According to Schröder, this is very common for this time of year. “There will be some high clouds in the province this Monday, but we will also have significant sunny periods. However, the wind makes it feel colder than the temperature on the thermometer.”

On Tuesday we will have quite a lot of clouds. “That will be a gray day, but it will remain dry.” The sun will break through again on Wednesday, but it will be a little chillier.
