The Saturday of Carnival was a beautiful and colorful day. Carnival lovers plunged into the party stuff everywhere. In the cities it was very busy, but mostly stitched in the whole of Brabant! The first parades looked fantastic, people from above rivers were fronted with a special price list and happened much more during this first carnival day.

The power has been transferred
Carnival started with key transfers in many villages and towns. In the coming days, carnival princes and princesses are the boss in villages and towns. The mayor must make way and transfer the key to the town hall. In Schoenlapperslaand (Waalwijk), Torensjouwerslaand (Schijf) and night owl rich (Sprundel) were traditional key transfers.

Drunk man is girlfriend
An evening of loss is almost the same as carnival as confetti and a beer. Agents in Best received a very remarkable call, they told you on Instagram on Saturday morning. A man sobbed the phone that he wanted to lie on the road. He lost his girlfriend and did not know what to do without her. The man had looked too deeply into the glass, but the police did come to the rescue and brought the two together again.

Good carnival is also good breakfast
Anyone who says ‘carnival breakfast’, of course immediately thinks of a beer. And so there was a good ‘breakfast’ by many fellow countrymen. For example at Patricia and Ronald’s home in Kluppelland (Helmond-‘t Hout). Patricia celebrates her birthday every carnival Saturday and the entire neighborhood is welcome.

There was an extra special breakfast for the CV de Broken Stachels and René van Rooij. They won on Friday evening choose your squatter and the party then went on until the small hours. On Saturday morning they started the day with Bossche bulbs and champagne.

Bustle in the cities
It became very busy in the cities very quickly. As a precaution, Den Bosch advised not to come to the city center, because the municipality expected extreme crowds. That was a good estimate, although it will be much busier tomorrow. Not much later, Breda also called on not to come to the city because it was full. Just before the start of the evening, Tilburg did the same.

Our reporter Jan Waalen went to take a closer look at the increasingly busier Oeteldonk:

The door chips get their own square
It was a special Saturday for the doorsteps. On Friday they were already surprised with the special title of honorary citizen of Repoetsoetgat. A step further came when the mayor of Waalwijk, together with the prince, unveiled the doorstack square, as the Raadhuisplein will now be called during carnival. The official unveiling of the new name was an emotional moment for the legendary carnival duo.

“Carnival is emotion”
In the midst of all the hustle and bustle in the inner city of Den Bosch, it was close to the Korte Waterstraat, a short moment a bit quieter. The memorial stone, placed last year, has since become a permanent place for those who have to miss this carnival.

Not much later, the party is bursting around the gate again. “That is the beautiful,” says creator Sabina above the music. “We take a moment to commemorate our loved ones, and then we toast to life.”
