Line lines were applied to the square last week. It consists of rectangular compartments and cargo bike icons. The painting points out cyclists that the Kennemerplein is now only intended for cargo bikes. Normal bicycles must be placed in the adjacent bicycle shed.
Don’t understand, or don’t want to understand
That takes some getting used to for the train travelers, who – before they walk into the station tunnel – have to get rid of their bikes quickly. “Sixty percent of people are doing well,” says Fernando. “They walk, by bike in hand, into the bicycle shed. But there are also people who don’t get it yet, or don’t want to understand.”
The weirdest thing that Fernando and Brahim experience this Friday morning is not caused by a cyclist, but by a motorist. A lady who says he has an appointment in a catering business located on the square, parks her small city car right on the square. The bicycle stewards protest, but the brutal driver wants nothing to know and hurries into the restaurant.
