Now we know what Finns drank in 2024. Alko has published last year annual statistics.
It shows, among other things, that Finns’ purchases from Alko decreased compared to 2023. This was partly influenced by the law change that came into force at the end of the summer, which brought wines to grocery stores.
– The three best-selling products in Alko are spirits. Spirits accounted for 27 percent of liter sales. The 10 best-selling spirits make up about 50 percent of the sales of the entire product group, i.e. sales are strongly concentrated on a few products. 62 percent of our total liter sales are wines, of which there were almost 8,500 in the selection during the year, 10 percent brewery products and 1 percent alcohol-free, Alko’s business director lists in the press release Kari Pennanen.
Finns’ favorite wine country is France, and Chile comes in second after Spain. Alcohol-free products are interesting, and according to Alko, this is a global trend.
Finns have been loyal to their most popular red wine since 2019. More than a million liters of Portuguese 2u Duas Uvas red wine were sold last year.
