Jack van Gelder was reprimanded by fellow guest Debby Gerritsen in the talk show HLF8 last night. She thinks he is sowing panic about the vaccines against the omikron variant of corona.
HLF8 presenter Hélène Hendriks asked her guests at the table yesterday whether they plan to get another repeat shot against the corona virus. These are new vaccines adapted to omikron. Three table guests were positive about it, two table guests were not so keen on it, could be seen in the broadcast on SBS 6.
Jack doesn’t want a shot
Where Debby Gerritsen, Tino Martin and Tom Coronel indicate that they will get that repeat shot, Thomas Dekker and especially Jack van Gelder are less enthusiastic. “It was necessary last time, but I think it is a lot less at the moment,” said former cyclist Thomas. “I think I’ll check it out first.”
Jack doesn’t feel like it at all. “I also have the idea that this is a different corona than we had in the beginning, in my opinion. When I hear that people have corona, they cough for two days and then it’s all okay again. It is much less bad than in the beginning.”
“Have three already!”
Debby: “Don’t we also owe that to the fact that we’ve all been vaccinated? Do we want to keep this up…”
Jack: “Sure, sure, but I don’t know if I’ll do it again. I’ve had three.”
Tino: “You don’t want what we’ve had back. If I take a booster, I’m going to get it because what we’ve had, we’re never going to experience again.”
Thomas: “I don’t think it will ever happen again to that extent.”
Debby: “If everyone continues to protect themselves, it won’t come back.”
‘Rubbish in your body!’
Thomas: “The virus has of course already spread a lot.”
Debby: “Yes, but well, there will be new variants. That’s how it works, right?”
Jack: “It’s also a bit if-if, because there is no one at all… Because I was really in favor of the jab ehhh… Who knows what kind of mess you get in your body. I’m slowly finding that too. From: go, we’ll take it, fine, then you won’t get it.”
Then Debby corrects him. “That’s not entirely true, because there’s been an incredible amount of research on it.”
Jack: “Yes, but yes, at some point I do think: I’ve had three.”
“You’re creating panic!”
Debby is annoyed that Jack brings up “junk in your body.” “Yes, but that is also a bit of panic, because that is simply not true. There have been a lot of studies on the vaccine, right?”
Thomas: “In principle you can really know what’s in it. That is well known, of course.”
Debby: “Yes, and the consequences of that are that we have now come out of this crisis. Of course that happened.”
Jack: “Yes yes yes yes. Well, if I have to, I’ll do it, but at the moment I think: put a foot on the brake.”
