This is what the International Space Station has looked like from Barcelona

The International Space Station (ISS) has passed through the sky today Barcelona. The satellite has been seen from the 6:48 p.m. pm today, January 20, and its presence has been enjoyed with the naked eye – as can be seen in the photograph sent to El Periódico by the Fabra Observatory meteorologist, Alfons Puertas – for a total of 6 minutes before fading away until his next appearance.

The ISS can be seen again throughout this end of the month, until February 1 at different times and from different places, as can be seen from the search engine of the Web page of the POT that continues its trajectory.

Miguel López-Alegría aboard the ISS

The ISS is a huge satellite or “science city”as described by European Space Agency (ESA, for its acronym in English), which has been circulating at high speed above the Earth’s ground at more than 400 kilometers above sea level since it was put into orbit in 1998.

It is not something strange to be able to see the station from our terrestrial perspective, although this time is special because he travels in it Spanish-American former astronaut Miguel López-Alegría on the first European private commercial flight in history, through the Axiom company. The objective of the mission, which arrived at its destination this Saturday the 19th, is to put into practice some scientific experiments related to the cancer and the mother cells before returning to land again in two weeks.

It is not the first time that López-Alegría visits the station, since in 2022 he spent a total of 17 days on another trade mission.
