This is what the future of our mobility looks like according to Toyota | Car

This electric van is described by the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota as ‘the future of our mobility’. The name of the angular model ‘kayoibako’ refers to a sea container. According to Toyota, the van can be used for just about anything: as a van, taxi bus, a shop on wheels or for going on holiday.

The ‘kayoibako’ is a concept car that Toyota wants to unveil next week at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. According to Toyota’s marketing department, it symbolizes the future with ‘a mobility that gives you the freedom to live your life the way you want. Everywhere and anytime’.

The almost rectangular van is approximately 4 meters long, 1.79 meters wide and 1.86 meters high. The basic interior is sleek, with a cargo area of 3.13 meters deep on a flat top plate. Thanks to the modular and customizable interior, the van is multi-functional, according to Toyota, for both private and business use.

The basic version can serve as a van. Using modular parts, the interior can be adapted to everyone’s taste and preference. With extra seats you can turn it into a shuttle bus, with display shelves into a mobile store or you can convert it into a mobile home.

Toyota remains silent about concrete production plans for the time being. According to Elektrec.co, the company has a history of unveiling electrical concepts that don’t go anywhere. So let’s wait and see whether we see this van driving around soon, or whether it will remain a dream.
